About Us

We belong to the large family of Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), a Religious Congregation in the Oriental Syro-Malabar tradition of the Catholic Church, founded by Fr. Thomas Palackal, Fr. Thomas Porukara and St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara on 11 May 1831. Darsana Institute of Philosophy (DIP), Wardha, established on 20 June 1983, has been functioning as an extension centre of Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram (DVK), Bengaluru; and in the light of Pope Francis’ Apostolic Constitution, Veritatis Gaudium, is now declared as an Ecclesiastical Higher Education Institution by the Dicastery for Culture and Education, Rome, on 9 January 2024 and is affiliated to its alma mater, DVK. It envisions imparting a contextualized formation and solid foundation and excellence in Ecclesiastical Philosophy to our students who aspire to become missionaries throughout the world. Besides the three-year Baccalaureate (B.Ph.) and the two-year Diploma in Philosophy (D.Ph.), the Institute also offers Certificate in Atmadarsan, a Course in Spirituality and Religious Life for the candidates of Catholic Women Congregations. Now DIP has grown as one of the prominent cultural and religious centres of the Gandhi-Vinoba City of Wardha in Maharashtra. Along with giving formation to our students, it has a heritage of being a true welcoming community for all the seekers of wisdom and peace.
